Kaptain Kirk has been teaching, coaching, and directing chess tournaments for more than 20 years. He works with students, adults, and seniors. His greatest joy comes from making a positive difference in a child’s future through discovery and learning during chess class.

Kaptain Kirk has a unique approach to teaching chess. The Kaptain Kirk way helps children enjoy chess in an academic, encouraging environment while having fun.
This is an after-school enrichment experience, not simply a recreational activity. Students develop chess skills while strengthening important habits for learning and life.
Description
Chess Class
Students learn the fundamentals of chess, including:
- The chessboard and chess pieces
- Legal moves and rules
- Basic strategies and tactics
- Openings and endings
Chess Club
Chess Club includes Chess Class instruction, plus preparation for tournament play and opportunities to participate in chess tournaments.
A United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership is highly recommended for students interested in tournament competition.

Description
CHESS CLASS: Fundamentals of chess – board, pieces, moves, rules, strategies – openings and endings.
CHESS CLUB: Chess class plus preparation for tournament play and participation in tournaments, All students will become eligible to receive United States Chess Federation membership.
