Kaptain Kirk has been teaching, coaching, and tournament directing for over 20 years to students, adults, and seniors. His greatest joy is when he can have an effect on a child’s future by way of discovery during one of his chess classes. “Safety, learning, and fun are his main concerns while encouraging and enriching the child’s experience,” -Ken Kirkland
Why Such Success?
I have a unique approach to teaching chess. The Kaptain Kirk way means that children learn to enjoy the game of chess in an academic atmosphere while having fun. My chess program is an after-school enrichment program, not merely recreational.
Description
CHESS CLASS: Fundamentals of chess – board, pieces, moves, rules, strategies – openings and endings.
CHESS CLUB: Chess class plus preparation for tournament play and participation in tournaments, All students will become eligible to receive United States Chess Federation membership.
